A toolbox can be beautiful and does not need to be practical only. Tool Boxes in the AP-Serien, designed by Line Depping, is a storage unit, and with subtle references to the common toolbox it invites you to organize your everyday bits and bobs. And it is exactly the daily use Line wants us to consider, when picking out furniture for our homes. It is a call only to surround ourselves with objects we actually use, which speaks to us aesthetically on a daily base for many years to come.
Tool Boxes consists of a metal frame and six drawers, which slides on the hidden rails when you pull them out to either side. The woodwork looks simple but at the cabinetmaker workshop, every drawer takes many hours to make, each consisting of seven parts. The wood is carefully selected in either quarter-sawn Oregon pine or ash. In ash the drawers are colour-graduated in a natural yellow colour pigment, developed in collaboration with ‘Linolie og Pigment’ in Haderslev. The metal is in stainless steel and bended by FK Tråd in Grindsted. Blacksmith Mikkel Kjærholm takes care of the welding.
