Foldable seat and back in untreated oak in natural colour or painted, brackets in stainless steel.
When furniture designer Ole Schjøll created the Wall Seat he met a common need. With the Wall Seat, even small rooms can come with a seat installed, and because it folds neatly away, it is perfect for settings with limited space. As a seat near the door for putting on your shoes or taking them off. As an extra seat in the kitchen, where it can be folded up once the meal is over. On the landing in apartment buildings, where it offers both young and more mature legs a welcome rest.
The Wall Seat consists of a wall-mounted frame. It has the appearance of a horizontal lattice which, when folded, forms a tight frame-like relief on the wall. An elegant structure, where the stainless steel brackets function both as support and as a beautiful contrast to the wood.
Ole Schjøll spent many years working on the idea of a wall seat. It was a task that required many considerations of practical solutions and sophisticated constructions. And, not least, an elegant and aesthetic design. In the process, he created a range of proposals which were presented at the Cabinetmakers’ Autumn Exhibition (SE), amongst other venues, over the years. The resulting Wall Seat crowned Ole Schjøll’s tenacious engagement with the wall seat concept.
For many years, Ole Schjøll handled the production of the Wall Seat from his country house in Sweden. Originally trained as a cabinetmaker and a constructing architect, he has always been able to test his furniture ideas directly. Today the Wall Seat is produced at Getama’s furniture factory in northern Jutland.
