Metal Stool – The Anja Camilla Alajdi Editions
Side table, coffee table, stool, or pedestal — Metal Stool is a versatile object that effortlessly adapts to its surroundings while adding a sculptural presence to any space.
Originally designed by architect Ole Schjøll in 2006, the stool is formed from a single flat steel sheet, laser-cut and bent into a precise three-dimensional shape. Like a folded drawing in metal, its clean lines and geometric simplicity create a graphic, almost origami-like expression with subtle industrial references.
With The Anja Camilla Alajdi Editions, Anja Camilla Alajdi reinterprets the design through a carefully developed color palette, exploring how color can shift perception and character. Developed in close dialogue with local production, the palette consists of three tones — a deep coffee brown, a creamy off-white, and a muted moss green — each highlighting different aspects of the stool’s form and surface. The result is a balanced interplay where color and geometry carry equal weight.
Despite its light and minimal appearance, Metal Stool is both solid and stable, weighing 13 kg, making it suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. Production remains rooted in Denmark, where the steel is laser-cut, bent, polished, and powder-coated with a high level of craftsmanship.
A simple form with a strong identity — Metal Stool continues to evolve through material, color, and context.
