A. PETERSEN presents The Metal Stool in collaboration with stylist and designer Anja Camilla Alajdi, reinterpreted through a new colour concept titled The Anja Camilla Alajdi Editions. Building on the existing form, the collaboration explores how colour can introduce a renewed identity and character to the object. The stool was originally designed by architect Ole Schjøll in 2006.

The Metal Stool is a versatile object – serving as a side table, coffee table, stool, or pedestal – adapting effortlessly to various spaces and functions. It's simple construction, made from a flat steel sheet that is laser-cut and bent into a three-dimensional form, creates a graphic and sculptural expression with industrial references.
For Anja Camilla Alajdi, the proximity to production in Denmark has been essential in the development of the colour palette:
"One of the advantages of producing in Denmark is the closeness to the process. It means a lot to experience the dedication and quality at every stage. Another key factor was the opportunity to test colours. It is crucial to see how form and colour interact. We ended up testing around ten different shades, and for me, the most important aspect was balance—that form and colour carry equal weight. We arrived at a curated palette of three tones: a deep coffee brown, a creamy off-white, and a muted moss green. Each colour highlights different aspects of the stool's geometry and surface, adding new atmospheres to the same object."
Despite its light appearance, The Metal Stool is both heavy and stable, weighing 13 kg, making it suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. Production continues in Denmark, where the steel sheet is laser-cut and bent, then ground, polished, and powder-coated.
With The Anja Camilla Alajdi Editions by A. PETERSEN, a new layer is added to the existing design—an exploration of the role of colour in shaping form, function, and spatial experience.
